Bioeconomy Austria
Bioeconomy Austria brings together companies, research, politics and society. The aim is to exchange knowledge, use synergies, close loops and develop and implement joint projects along the value chain.
A flagship project of the federal government's bioeconomy strategy
With the approval of Bioeconomy Austria, the Austrian Forest Fund lays the foundation for a national bioeconomy cluster. Over the next three years, this lighthouse project of the bioeconomy strategy will establish a broad-based network to promote the regional economy as well as cooperation along common value chains. The first focus is on wood as a raw material.
ecoplus Platform for Green Transformation & Bioeconomy takes over project responsibility
There is great potential in the Austrian forestry value chain with over 15 billion euros in value added (WIFO, 2019). Moreover, the sector already has well-functioning regional platforms and clusters that link business and research. Project responsibility for Bioeconomy Austria lies with ecoplus, the business agency of the province of Lower Austria, as part of the Platform for Green Transformation & Bioeconomy.
