THE PEP Partnership on Sustainable Tourism Mobility
The “THE PEP Partnership on Sustainable Tourism Mobility”, which was officially announced in the course of the 5th High Level Meeting of THE PEP in Vienna, on 18 May 2021 aims at bringing together the relevant stakeholders responsible for mobility, climate action and tourism in a pan-European platform to further promote the sustainable tourism development of the pan-European region. It was jointly initiated by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy. In addition to the lead country Austria, the countries Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland participated in the activities of the partnership.
Experts have discussed the following fields of actions: mobility requirements of different user groups, mobility management in the destination, long distance travel options, flexible transport systems, cycling & walking as part of the tourism experience, multimodal travel information (systems) and the integration of sustainable mobility services in tourism packages, marketing and communication. During the Symposium on "Sustainable Tourism Mobility" in November 2024 the Inspiration for the countries of the pan-European Region “Inspiration guide” was launched.
