National Strategy for Sustainable Development Of the Federal Government
In April 2002, the Council of Ministers adopted NSTRAT 2002, a sustainable development strategy that was mandatory for the Federal Government.
NSTRAT 2002, the National Strategy for Sustainable Development adopted in 2002 continues to be relevant for the Federal Government even today. It consists of four fields of action (quality of life in Austria, Austria as a dynamic business location, Austria as living space and Austria's responsibility), each of which has five key objectives.
Between October 2011 and June 2012, the Federal Government's Sustainability Development Strategy was revised in the course of an expert-assisted multi-stakeholder process. However, the draft for a new strategy (NSTRAT bis), which was tabled in 2013, was not adopted.
