Grants for waste prevention

The collection and recovery systems for packaging provide 0.5 % of the deobligation charges they receive for the support of waste prevention projects.

The waste hierarchy gives top priority to prevention. The funding programme aims to define framework conditions for the payment of the waste prevention subsidy granted by the collection and recovery systems for packaging.

The funds have to be awarded by an independent third party. The competent body is the newly established packaging coordination office (Verpackungskoordinierungsstelle VKS).
