Scope
What does an extended and normal background check cover?
A normal background check in accordance with 11.1.4 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 shall include at least:
- the establishment of the identity of the person concerned on the basis of the papers presented as proof, and
- checking criminal records in all states of residence for at least the last 5 years, and
- the recording of all employment relationships, education and training and any gaps for at least the last 5 years.
An extended background check pursuant to 11.1.3 of Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 shall additionally include at least:
- intelligence and other relevant information available to the competent authorities which they consider may be relevant to the suitability of a person to perform a function requiring an extended background check.
